ScotEdupedia

07Mar07

ScotEdupedia has arrived. It’s a wiki for Scottish Education. It looks really good, though at the moment I’ve got a problem with the way it’s set up - there’s not quick URLs (e.g. http://www.scotedupedia.co.uk/Maths  doesn’t take you to the entry on maths) which is a real issue for avid ‘pedia users. Also the layout is haywire on Internet Explorer here in Fife. On every computer.

I ain’t trying to bash this lovely website though. I just can’t find the place to comment on the scotedupedia site so I thought I’d put it up here just now.

Good luck to those involved finishing the site off. It will be interesting to see how it is used.

Thanks for the comments, Peter. The site hasn\\\’t quite \\\’arrived\\\’ yet and the comments from our blogging public are most valuable as we try to prepare the site for a more public outing. Short URLs are a must, I agree. One more for the list… ;-)

Short URLs partially enabled now - ie /Maths will take you to the right page, although it’s still displaying as /index.php?title=Maths when you get there, rather than the neater version. It’s a start though!

I would be keen to hear what version(s) of IE you’re using - and maybe a screenshot if poss?

Indeed, a really good resource, although didn\’t places in the US ban the use of wiki\’s/wikipedia for research and revision (not sure if it was actually wikipedia.com its self, or any wiki.

Sir, why don\’t you demand IE 7, it displays pages fine, or even better, Firefox! (Well, since I have portable FF, it\’s all good!)
